Introduction/比赛简介

Window on Australia Awards (WAA) is an online video competition launched by the Foundation for Australian Studies in China (FASIC), an independent, non-political, non-profit foundation in Australia established to support engagement and educational activities to deepen understanding between the peoples of Australia and China

The competition aims to encourage and acknowledge Chinese bloggers on multiple online platforms who promote a better understanding of Australia in China. All Chinese bloggers are invited to create appealing portrayals of Australia by publishing videos and articles on Australian culture, history, tourism, education, and daily life in Australia.

澳洲之窗WAA)是由在华澳大利亚研究基金会(以下简称FASIC) 发起的在线视频比赛。作为澳大利亚独立的非政治性、非营利性基金会,在华澳大利亚研究基金会旨在支持促进澳大利亚和中国人民之间相互了解的交流和教育活动。

比赛目的是邀请中国博主通过发布有关澳大利亚文化、历史、旅游、教育和日常生活的视频和文章,来创造有吸引力的澳大利亚形象。

Categories /比赛类别

1. Australian Culture

Videos and articles that showcase Australian art, music, literature, food, festivals, and other aspects of the country's cultural heritage.

澳洲文化

展示澳大利亚艺术、音乐、文学、美食、节日或文化遗产等其他方面的视频和文章。

2. History and Heritage

Videos and articles that explore Australia's historical landmarks, monuments, and cultural heritage sites.

历史与遗产

3. Tourism

Videos and articles that highlight popular tourist destinations in Australia, such as beaches, national parks, and landmarks.

Videos and articles that provide an overview of the Australian education system and showcase the experiences of international students studying in Australia.

Videos and articles offer insights into Australians' everyday lives, including work, social life, family, and community.

7. Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Awards/奖项

The Judging Panel will select one winner for each category in the final round. Winners will be given a prize of 1,500 AUD.

In addition, there is a Most Popular Award, which will be given to the entry with the highest public votes. The winner will be given a prize of 500 AUD.

Requirements/参赛要求

The video competition should encourage original, creative, and informative entries that engage the audience and showcase a deep understanding of Australia's culture, history, tourism, education, and daily life. The submissions should be accurate, non-political, unbiased, and presented in a clear and concise manner to effectively communicate with the target audience.

视频比赛应鼓励原创、创意和信息丰富的参赛作品,吸引观众并展示对澳大利亚文化、历史、旅游、教育和日常生活的深刻理解。提交内容应当具有准确性、非政治性和公正性,并以清晰简洁的方式呈现,以便与目标受众进行有效沟通。

In order to showcase the talent of the applicants and create works in line with the theme of the competition, the submitted works should be newly created videos and articles.

为了展示参赛者的才华,创造出与比赛主题相符合的作品,参加本次比赛的作品应为全新创作的视频。

Participants can submit one entry per category.

参赛者可以为每个类别提交一个参赛作品。

The videos must be between 3 to 5 minutes in duration and can be in Mandarin or English with English subtitles. An article's minimum or maximum text count should be between 500-1000 words.

视频时长须在3 5 分钟之间,对白可以为普通话或英语,必须配有英文字幕。文章的最小或最大文本数应在 500-1000 字之间。

The video entries can be taken with any photographic equipment and in any format, but all videos submitted and uploaded must be of at least 1080p, preferably 4K, in MOV or MP4 format.

视频参赛作品可以使用任何摄影设备和任何格式拍摄,但所有提交和上传的视频必须至少为 1080p,建议为 4KMOV MP4 格式。

All  submitted videos and social media posts need to remain for the public until October 15 2023.

All submissions must be original and must not infringe the rights of others, including copyright.

How to submit/参赛流程

Online submission is open until 3 July 2023.

All submitted works will be displayed on FASIC’s website from 10 July 2023 to 17 July, the public is invited to vote during this period.

Winners will be announced on FASIC’s website in September 2023.

To take part in the competition, please follow the steps below:

  1. Finish the video and ensure it fits all the requirements.

  2. Upload the video to your social media platform, with the hashtag #WindowsonAustralia Upload your video to an accessible drive.

  3. Scan the QR code below to fill in the application. You will need to share the link to the post and a download link to the original video.

Copyright and Permissions /版权与许可

All entries must be original, and plagiarism is prohibited. If plagiarism is found, the entry will be disqualified. Any copyright disputes arising from it shall be the responsibility of the individual.

所有参赛作品必须为原创,禁止抄袭。如果发现抄袭,参赛作品将被取消参赛资格。由此产生的版权纠纷由个人承担。

The applicants must have the permission of any person (s) that appear in the video before filming and submitting and confirm so when submitting the video/articles.

申请人必须在拍摄和提交之前获得视频中出现的任何人的许可,并在提交视频/文章时确认。

By submitting the video/articles, the applicants permit FASIC to publish the content on its website and any associated platforms, e.g., social media platforms and professional networks.

FASIC reserve the right to disqualify any entry that violates the terms and conditions of the competition. The copyright belongs to the contestant, FASIC respects and reserves its right of authorship. FASIC has the right to use the shortlisted/winning entries for public display on the project website, official social media platform or for other non-commercial activities without additional remuneration.

All contestants must confirm that they own the copyright and other relevant rights of their works. FASIC will not undertake any legal liability arising from (but not limited to) disputes over portraiture rights, reputation rights, privacy rights, copyright, trademark rights, etc. In case of any disputes mentioned above, all responsibilities shall be assumed by the participants themselves and FASIC has the right to cancel their qualification and recall their reward. In case of any loss caused by disputes, FASIC  has the right to claim compensation from the participants.

These rules constitute an important agreement between FASIC and the participants concerning copyright matters. Every participant who uploads or submits his/her work through the specified channel will be deemed to have agreed to the rules and be bound by them. FASIC reserves the right of final interpretation of the contest.
